Help and support

Achieving Success Together: All our students are focused on academic excellence and achieving their first choice degree course at their first choice university. They also benefit from a strong support environment that provides the perfect stepping-stone to university life.

Help and support

At Abbey College, we offer a relaxed, informal and mature environment and encourage our students to respect each other and themselves. We are also committed to providing a clear structure for academic progress, which ensures that students are able to meet and sometimes exceed their own expectations.

Small classes allow our teachers to get to know everyone well ensuring that support is tailored to each individual. They see the whole person not just the student of that subject. Sixth Form students have a personal tutor who gives friendly and non-judgmental advice in individual meetings whenever these are needed. Personal tutors are usually chosen from among the student's subject teachers, which strengthens the relationship.

Year 11 students go to their Head of Year, Gary Brady, for advice and support whenever they feel it is required.

A strong mentoring system is also in place at the college. All students are offered the chance to have a fellow student as a mentor who can be turned to for help and support. As well as being friendly and approachable, they are non-judgmental and will offer advice with any areas of concern using their own experiences.

  • EXCELLENT A LEVEL RESULTS

  • We are delighted with our A Level results this year and the most pleasing aspect is that, despite the concerns raised in the national press, almost all of our students have gained places in their chosen courses and universities.

Our value-added for A Level students is 1.5 grades above their baseline attainment and for Retake A Levels the average grade increase is 3 grades.

Congratulations to all our A Level students.
